Amani

Amani lived a modest life in Jabalia. Her home was bombed in 2021, but she and her husband managed to rebuild it, only to lose it again in the 2023 war. She has been displaced seven times, starting with her first evacuation during the early days of the conflict. She moved from her house in northern Gaza to a school shelter in Beit Lahia, where she stayed for about 20 days before being forced to leave due to threats of the school being bombed. Her second displacement took her to Jabalia for a week. Following this, she was directed to evacuate further south, covering a distance of 40 km, eventually ending up in Az-Zawaida, where she remained for about two months. She was then displaced to Rafah for about a month, followed by Nusayrat, and finally back to Az-Zawaida. Each displacement came with its own hardships and tragedies. Amani and her family eventually managed to leave for Cairo, where they now face new challenges as Palestinian refugees, struggling without the ability to work, study, or receive government support. Before the war, Amani was actively involved with several groups that aimed to help less fortunate families in Gaza, and she hopes to continue this work in the future.
